Bride and groom at their Roslyn Farm wedding elopement in Charlottesville, Virginia.

This is my baby brother, Durham, and his sweet gal, Nathalie, and this is not their real wedding!

These two cuties, and their boy bandit, were so kind as to be a part of a small styled shoot for a friend and me, plus get a little mock run in before their actual big day -someday! A beautiful day this was and it came together on a whim and ever so gracefully.

Our gracious host was Roslyn Farm, a small farm located in the heart of Charlottesville, Virginia, and is owned by my family. It has a beautiful manor house, circa 1939, with its white washed stone and endless ivy and wisteria. Surrounded by boxwoods and Camilla bushes everywhere you look. A feel to it like an old English countryside, truly a beautiful setting for any wedding, especially one so intimate.

As I said, this was a bit of a throw-together! She wore a second-hand dress, his suite was $5 at goodwill, hair and makeup all done by Nathalie herself, the ‘preacher’ is our brother-in-law, I designed the florals, the cake was made by a dear friends mother (the dear friend also a photographer shooting the day), there was one invitation, the venue is in the family, and we ordered pizza for dinner!

Honestly, this day goes to show how genuine love is and how little is needed to make a show of it.

Thinking of cutting the guest list? you should do it! Want to run away just the two of you? you should do it! Need someone to help document it, I’ll be there!

        Words from Nathalie...

What are some things you loved about having your event at Roslyn Farm?

I loved the very cozy feel that Roslyn Farm offers, it made our big day low stress and comfortable. There is a lot of different scenery throughout the house and outside providing endless options.

Tell us something that was most memorable from the day?

Walking down the aisle was hands down the most memorable. Cecilia set up the ceremony in a way that we wouldn’t see each other until I turned the corner and it was like nothing else I’ve ever experienced.

Any notes or pieces of advice you would give to some about wedding planning?

When it comes down to it, the people behind the scenes know what they are doing and if you just focus on enjoying yourself and it will come together seamlessly. It’s very good to communicate specifics before the big day and get acquainted with your photographer so you can be comfortable with them.
